I have been thinking about getting a tattoo since about February or March, with the saying, "Never a Failure, Always a Lesson" on my side, like on my ribcage. It would be hidden because it is basically for me. Altho of course, future guys I'm with will see it and only on the rare possibility I ever wear a bikini (unlikely).
It would be like this- (same font, just black ink with no background)
To answer some background questions...
- For me, this saying represents that you can truly learn from every experience, person, situation, mistake, so nothing is a failure, rather a learning experience.
- It doesn't represent one thing specifically, but for my life, it'd be gaining 100 lbs and how I'm losing it now, how my ex and I had so many issues and I'm moving on from him finally after all this time, how I let my life go downhill the last few years and am getting it back on track.
- I do have another tattoo, of a small cherub/ angel on my lower pelvis area.
- I know the ribcage hurts like hell.
Do you think I should get it?
Suggestions? Opinions? Any and all HONEST advice is welcome!

I love tattoos, but they are permanent so you have to make the decision. I say as long as what you're putting on your body is meaningful to you (as it seems this is)then GO FOR IT! :D
I'd be worried that over time the words wouldn't be readable. That's a LOT of words!
Girl, I have 16 myself so I am a massive tattoo advocate, lol. Once I get to goal, I might get something to remind me of this journey I'm on. Go for it! I want pics though :)
Im for it. I wanted to get my dragon tattoo at 30 pounds but it hasnt happened yet and I am very bummed. Considering a small pink star while I wait until we have the funds again
Go for it! I'm getting lillies across my upper back from shoulder blade to shoulder blade with my kids names in script around the lillies.
I think you should get it, as long as it means something to you. I got a tattoo on my chest when I was 21 and at 26 I started having it removed. For the last year I have been going every three months to have it removed, after a year its almost gone. But I do have other two other tattoo's and it will be getting my youngest's daughters name soon and I have also thought about getting my wedding vows on my side once I reach my goal weight.
I got lots of Tattoos, and here's what I got by. If you decide on a tattoo, then wait 6 months. If you haven't changed anything about it, and still want it, then get it. I think that will be a beautiful Tat, and I expect to see some pics!!!
If it's something you really want and the whole world is not going to see it, I say go for it... It's like your putting a boyfriend name or husband LOL
BUT
Keep in mind that your views on things may change, think back 10 years ago, your probably saw the world differently... so make sure you really want that on you!
HS
OOOPS meant to say it's NOT like your putting a bf name or hubby...
I'd wait until all your personal drama is done (ex drama) before doing it just in case. Also, you don't have kids yet do you? Will that skin stretch when and if you do get pregnant?
"Never get a tattoo you'd be embarrassed to show your Grandma." is what I always think of.
Not that this phrase would be embarrassing but think long and hard about it and go for it if it's really what you want!
I like the idea in concept. What about finding a symbol to represent it since it is such a long saying. Honestly the location you plan on is not visble often to remind you. If you have a symbol on say your ankle then you will see it often and be reminded. Find a symbol that has representation of you. For example I am irish, maybe I could find a galeic symbol.
How about translating it into latin....for subtlty
http://latindiscussion.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=8477&p=46380
two translations here, one long one short.
I like the simpler one...errando discimus meaning litterally "Failing, we learn"
